How to Install themes on wordpress(I have ask this before but I didn’t really get good answers)?

I’m using sqweebs.com as my host and I’d like to install wordpress themes which I know are Wordpress 2.8.6 compatible. The problem is, even if I transfer it through FTP, it isn’t there! I tried putting in in the wp-content/themes folder and went onto my wordpress, it wasn’t there either. Even if I TRY to install plugins, it wouldn’t work. What should I do? Please help. I don’t even know what the problem is!

Make sure files are going to the right directory – double check where you need to upload files to. I don’t know their structure, so you need to make sure you have the right one. All files should be unzipped, in the correct folders.

It sounds to me like you won’t be able to run wordpress on this host.

It has to do with your .htaccess file – which you’re not allowed to use on this host. This is why plugins don’t work.
